Project Groups
The BetaPlus Club runs a programme of Short Projects, usually at the request of members and designed to study individual topics of current interest. Short Projects differ from Study Groups. Study Groups are intended either for the continuing education of members or as a forum for more advanced practitioners. Short Projects each have a specific scope and produce a set of recommendations and/or guidance for members or for the Committee within a relatively short time.
Short Projects produce written or presented feedback for the members of the Club. The documented output will be stored and made available to members to help to build a long-term repository of knowledge.
Short Projects that have recently been active are Access, Vista, Capturing Old Recordings, Medical Websites and Skype.

General Information The formation of new Short Projects for 2010 / 2011 will be based on the interest expressed by club members.
The potential projects described below reflect the informal interest previously shown by club members. These projects will only take place if enough club members make a commitment to join them so please declare your interest by contacting the relevant project leader or the Short Projects Coordinator, Steve Pearce.
If you have ideas for any other short project, or would be willing to lead any short project, please contact Steve Pearce.
P1 MS Word Functions A project group has met over several years in order to learn some of the many features of Microsoft Word. Recent topics have included printing address labels and using tables. Future topics will be based on the interests of potential project members. A basic knowledge of word processing is required. This group meets at Swanfield Community Centre on alternate Monday mornings with two or three sessions dedicated to each of the selected topics.
P2 Powerpoint & Presentation Skills Several club members have expressed an interest in learning MS Powerpoint together with some presentation skills training. This project aims to meet both of those objectives. The schedule for 2010 / 2011 will depend on the response from interested club members. Please contact John Beck if you are interested in joining this project.
P5 Music on your computer This project is researching the techniques for creating and organising a music library on your computer and streaming music from the computer to different rooms in the house. It is also looking at music sources from the internet. The project presented its initial conclusions to the club in March 2009. Focus items for 2010 / 2011 will reflect the interests of the project team members. All Betaplus members are welcome to browse the discussions and posting in the project’s Google Group http://tinyurl.com/betamusic
Please contact Steve Pearce if you would like to join the Music Project or join the Music GGroup.

If you interested in any of these potential projects, or have suggestions for others, please contact the Short Projects coordinator, Steve Pearce
